This Thanksgiving, Eastmont Community Center (ECC) once again demonstrated its commitment to the East Los Angeles community through its annual Thanksgiving event. The celebration was a resounding success, bringing much-needed support and joy to nearly 400 families, thanks to the efforts of ECC’s dedicated team, partners, and volunteers.
Elizabeth Cervantes, ECC’s Assistant Director of Programs, reflected on the significance of the event:
"It is heartwarming to be able to provide the necessary ingredients to families in need to prepare a hearty Thanksgiving dinner."
397 families received Thanksgiving turkeys, helping them share festive meals with their loved ones.
51,610 pounds of food were distributed, offering nutritious ingredients to sustain families through the holiday season. 844 hot meals were served, delivering warmth, nourishment, and community connection.
Maria Calderon, a community member, shared her gratitude for ECC’s impact:
"I've been coming to Eastmont for a year now, and it has been such a tremendous help. Today, they’re serving us a delicious breakfast, providing a turkey, and distributing food. I truly admire the ECC staff for continuing to bring us a grain of hope and support when we need it most."
ECC’s Executive Director, Isaias Hernandez, highlighted the importance of the organization’s mission:
“It’s our mission to serve the unincorporated East LA area. In communities like ours, where resources can sometimes be limited, organizations like Eastmont fill an essential gap. East LA is not just where we work—it’s home to many of our staff and the neighbors we serve. We’re proud to be a part of this community and to provide these essential services.”
Through partnerships with organizations like Kroger, ECC exemplifies how collaboration can bring vital resources to families in need.
While Thanksgiving is a time for giving, ECC’s commitment to the East LA community extends far beyond the holidays. The organization continues to serve as a lifeline for residents, providing critical resources and support throughout the year.
“If anyone in the community needs support, even after Thanksgiving has passed, we encourage them to reach out to us. The community center is here to help, year-round. Providing resources and assistance to East LA residents is at the heart of what we do,” the Executive Director added.
As ECC reflects on the success of this year’s Thanksgiving event, it is clear that partnerships play a vital role in its ability to serve the community.
Eastmont Community Center remains committed to collaborating with sponsors, partners, and supporters to create opportunities, foster connections, and ensure every resident has access to the resources they need—during the holidays and beyond.
This impactful event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, Kroger and Preferred Bank, our valued partner Camino Federal Credit Union, and the unwavering commitment of our board members. ECC extends heartfelt gratitude to each of these supporters for helping us bring hope and nourishment to the East LA community.
