On August 1, Eastmont Community Center proudly welcomed more than 100 community members, elected officials, and corporate partners to a vibrant celebration of its new technology center and food distribution, hosted in partnership with Spectrum. The event marked Eastmont’s selection as a 2024 Spectrum Digital Education Grant Awardee, recognizing our leadership in closing the digital divide in East Los Angeles.

Eastmont was honored to welcome a representative from Supervisor Hilda Solis, Assemblymember Jessica Caloza, and Senator María Elena Durazo, along with the Spectrum corporate team, for a formal recognition ceremony.
The event included:
Opening remarks by Executive Director Isaias Hernandez,
Words of support from Spectrum leadership,
A ceremonial ribbon cutting celebrating the opening of the computer lab.

“Access to technology and digital literacy are vital to economic resilience in our community,” said Hernandez. “We’re grateful to Spectrum for investing in that future—and to our elected officials for standing with East LA families.”

Following the ceremony, families entered in groups to receive healthy groceries and digital education materials. A group of volunteers from Spectrum helped support the celebration by sorting and preparing the food items - guiding each family through different food pickup stations.

The Spectrum Digital Education grant will directly support Eastmont’s ongoing digital equity programs, including:
